The 3 trimesters of fashion: Dressing during pregnancy

Some women may be stumped by what they should be wearing during their pregnancy, however it isn’t as big of a riddle as it may seem. During this article I will try to shed a little light on some ideas of what should be worn during the extent of your pregnancy; however please keep in mind that this is mostly generals. First and foremost you should consider your own fashion whether it be of the alternative nature such as my own; goth, punk, urban etc or more main stream in flavor. Most mothers will be able to benefit from these brief suggestions. While you are shopping for your clothing keep your style in mind, as this may determine greatly where you search for your clothes. Generally speaking a more main stream mother to be, will have a much greater chance of finding their clothes at a mass market retail chain. However, the alternative parents are forced to take their shopping online; which isn’t always a negative thing. Not only does shopping online save you time and energy of having to walk around a huge store for hours; but also has the possibility of saving you some stress, money, and your own sense of self in the long run.

During the first trimester of pregnancy, most women can usually stick with what is already dangling upon hangers in your closet. This is especially so if this is your first pregnancy, as most women won’t start showing until early in the second trimester. However while this is true, some women may find that during the latter half of the first trimester, their pants may begin to feel a little snug around their form. However, there are many different ways to aid this; the least expensive would be to use a rubber band (looping the band through the button and top loop of your pants, which will provide a little extra fastening room for your pants), otherwise you can go for what I enjoyed most which is the belly belt. This is essentially the same idea, however it provides a little bit more security than a rubber band.

Once you have hit your fourth or fifth month, chances are you will need to start looking for maternity wear; which will help to accommodate your growing form. However fortunately, there are many fashionable and chic maternity fashions that are available; that will have you dressing in style without breaking your bank account to do so. One of the easiest solution is by purchasing a kit which will provide you with some of the basic essentials that you can mix and match during your pregnancy. If the store you are shopping at doesn’t offer kits, I would suggest trying to purchase items that can be mix and matched easily to create a variety of different outfits. Some of the keys to maternity wear, that will help you to accommodate your growing belly are:

* Stretch pants or belly belt
* Skirt that has a belly panel
* Loose fit or flowing dresses
* Belly accommodating tops that will look fashionable during the entire pregnancy.
* Over sized T shirts, or maternity T shirts (this is the way to get your band logos in ladies)
* Button down shirt, which will allow you to look professional at work.
* Maternity underwear and nursing bras.
