ABC's of decorating your child's room

When you become a parent, you will begin to wonder exactly how do I decorate his or her room? There are countless thousands of different themes and color schemes to choose from. Even if you have an established nursery, you will find that you will eventually have to change it during toddlerhood. Few children will enjoy the baby animals and pastel colors for long, especially once they reach ages two and older. This makes parents have to go through the tough decisions all over again; and often times can leave you confused in what to do exactly.

However despite the plethora of colors and themes; the best thing you can do is go with your first instinct with newborns. Choose soothing colors and fun shapes for your infant’s room; which will help to stimulate his or her growing and learning. It has become increasingly popular to surround the room with ABC’s 123's and even shapes. This of course doubles as a learning tool for parents, enabling them to teach their child through decorations.

While infants are fairly easy to decorate for, it becomes more difficult as your child grows. You might be faced with the challenge of finding something that your child likes; rather than what you enjoy. For this reason I always suggest that parents flip through their child’s favorite books, movies, and toys. Also bringing your child to the hardware store for paint, wallpaper and trim. Taking them to your local retailer, or browse the web for bedding and lighting; which will allow your child to personalize his or her room. Which of course makes it far less likely that your child will grow bored with their room. Keeping in mind that they will probably need a little direction on what colors go together better. But for the most part, children will choose a theme easily if offered a couple themes or color schemes to choose from.
