Baby Halloween costumesMuch like any other new parent, you may find yourself at a loss of what to do for your infant’s first or second Halloween. Whether the costumes are simply too expensive for you to purchase, or if you can’t find the one to fit your child’s personality. Remember, while it may be difficult to find a costume to fit your child’s age or style at a mass market retail store; many online companies are now offering a wide range of costumes for infants at an affordable cost. But what if you simply don’t know what to dress your little one as? Well it is for this reason, that I have compiled a list of some of the most popular Halloween costumes for infants and the ways to achieve the look with little to no cost involved. One of the cutest costumes for a new born is a sheep. All that is required to make this costume adorable is a white hooded sweat suit (which does double duty for this costume, creating the head of the infant as well as to keep them warm). You will also need either cotton batting or stuffing from an old pillow. After you have obtained your staples, you will use black or white felt triangles for ears, a roll of double sided tape, and a pair of white or black socks. To put this adorable costume together you will apply the double sided tape up and down the sweat suit, and begin to apply the cotton batting in clumps over the whole outfit, and then apply the ears to the top of the hood. If you aren’t concerned about re-using the sweatshirt you may also glue the pieces on the suit itself. Once the whole outfit is complete , your infant will then wear the socks on his or her hands or feet. On the same line of animals, you may opt for a stinkier little creature. Dressing your child up as a skunk is fairly easy as all you will need is; a black hooded sweat suit, white faux fur, glue, black felt, black socks, double sided tape, and black fabric. You will first cut the faux fur into a long strip and glue it to the hood down the back of the sweat jacket with either the glue or double sided tape. You will then cut a small oval shape for the tummy and adhere it to the belly of the sweat suit. After you have cut two triangles out of the felt and adhered them to the hood; you will then have a complete costume for your child. While these are just a couple of ideas, you can apply the same technique to many other animal related costumes for infants. However if you would rather put less work into your child’s costume, you may wish to look online for that perfect alternative style infant costume. Remember however, that these costumes will be worn only once so it is important to find a cost effective outfit for your child to wear on his or her first Halloween.
