Baby gift registryWhile you are considering which store to create your baby gift registry, it is important to keep a few things in mind. It is fairly common for most parents to create a baby registry when they are becoming first-time parents. However, in many communities a baby shower is only thrown for the first addition to the family; and not necessarily the second or third. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a baby shower if you are expecting another addition to your family unit. Remember, when you are expecting your first child; you may wish to rely on the opinions of others as well as your own judgment while selecting items to place on the registry.
There are a few things to remember when you are creating your baby gift registry. First time parents may not always know exactly what items to put on the registry, unless of course they have prior experience with infants. Even if they do know what type of item to select for their registry, they may not quite know what brands to choose from IE: Pampers, White Cloud, Huggies etc. For this reason, if you have anyone within your family or group of friends who has had experience with raising a child; you should utilize their knowledge and opinions to your benefit. However, when all else fails remember that a store associate may be able to provide some help with the registry. Just remember, that they may not have previous experience and may not be as sincere with their answer, as your friends or family would be. If you still aren’t sure what to include in your baby gift registry, the key is to strike up a balance between necessity and fun. Of course any parent will want to place newborn necessities on a registry, however it is still important to place some fun items on there for your guests to select from. While some guests may be more practical gift givers and will opt to give items such as diapers, lotion, or other items that any parent will need. Others will opt for a more fun approach on their gift giving, selecting more lavish and entertaining items for your child; such as mobiles, and musical toys. For you to completely understand the difference between necessity and fun is important. Any item that your infant needs for sleep, to stay clothed, or fed is a necessity; and items such as toys or hair accessories are considered fun. Some of the most important items to fall under necessity would be diapers, wipes, clothing, car seats, first aid kits, and home safety items. While some of the fun items would be things such as cd’s, colorful toys, play gyms, and any accessory that isn’t needed to keep your child clothed. Remember, even though newborns can be expensive to care for; it is important to strike a healthy balance between necessity and fun.
