Financial planning for pregnancyAlthough we are all in a constant bind, of planning and budgeting our money. There is no time , in my own view that is more important than planning for a pregnancy. While many parent's don't have the ability to plan, if you are considering a pregnancy then I would suggest writing down the finances. Whether you are a first time parent, or one several times over you will want to pick and choose what will be best for your family structure. But, how do you do this? You might be asking yourself, well it is quite simple. Gather all of the bills, and food expenses that you have on a regular basis prior to the addition; and write them down. Now that you have done this, it should be fairly simple to situate your budget. Often times families aren't left with much past their paychecks, if anything with our economy. It is growing increasingly more difficult to provide for a family of two, let alone five. This is another thing that will need to be taken into consideration, as if you cannot afford a child; it is not fair to assume that it is alright to have a child in utter poverty and lacking their daily needs. I would suggest by starting a small savings account, whether it be five to ten dollars weekly it will help. This money should be used, in supplement of the mother's pay checks during maternity leave. Due to the unfortunate fact, that most companies do not offer paid FMLA (family medical leave act) leave for their employees. Your needed savings will depend upon the time you intend to leave work, prior to the birth of your child; as well as the time that will be spent at home after the infant has been born. If you are a first time parent, it will be important to familiarize yourself with the cost of a child. Diapers and formula being two of the most expensive item's over the long term, however you can help this situation by purchasing packages prior to your child's birth. Before our daughter was born, we had a stock pile of diapers ranging from new born all the way to size fives. Which in turn enabled us to save enough money to continue the purchasing of these items, as well as the more expensive up front costs of a crib, car seat, and other baby essentials. Many organizations around the country, offer services to help low income parents. This of course will benefit most family structures, especially single parent homes. Places such as WIC will help defray the overhead costs of expensive formulas, and protein based foods for the children for up to two years of age. Medicaid is another wonderful source for a low income mother to be, allowing her to have the expensive but much needed pre-natal and post natal visits to the doctor, that both the mother and child require. Take this time to familiarize yourself with the needs that your child will need met, as education and knowledge are of the utmost importance. Related information topics:Hardcore apparel |
