Green baby clothingYou have probably heard the term “going green” throughout the last couple of years, but what exactly does it mean? And how will it affect my child? Well, going green or “green cleaning” is a term that has been used to describe a trend of being environmentally friendly in all walks of life. Whether it be reducing the chemicals in your household for cleaning, or how companies produce the clothes that both you, and your infant wear on a daily basis. Some of the products that we use on a daily basis that aren’t “green” can cause many different problems in the health of both you, and your child.
While some mass-market stores won’t offer you the option of obtaining green clothing for your child. Some green-minded companies are holding themselves to a higher standard. In general more-so than the federal or state government. The purpose of offering green clothing, especially for children and infants; is to address the many human illnesses that arise from chemical exposure. Yes, this would even include your child’s clothes; which so many companies treat with formaldehyde, benzene and other solvents; which has lead to exposure to harmful chemicals to your infant. Often times the equivalent of trapping your child in a car, and smoking a whole pack of cigarettes around them. As a parent, you should know that this isn’t acceptable behavior; so why should purchasing non-green clothes be acceptable either? As you can see, going green; especially with your child’s wardrobe is a responsibility that all parents have. It enables you to keep harmful chemicals away from your child, and taking the environmental effects on the world into our own hands. While you might be thinking that going green just isn’t economically sound for your family; chances are these organically grown and treated clothes, will help save you thousands of dollars worth of doctors bills later. In my personal opinion, an important step that all parents should make for their child. You may even think that finding, and obtaining these “green” clothes to be difficult. Yes, most mass-market retailers will opt not to purchase green clothing as they are slightly more in cost.
