A guide for stay at home momsWhile they are a dying breed, stay at home moms often face great challenges. It may not seem that challenging, to someone who is looking from the inside out. However, it may be one of the most challenging time, that most women will face. Take into mind, that in this society we are often associated with what we do. It is how we identify ourselves, whether the woman was once a teacher, a lawyer, or even just a sales representative at the local retail store. Once a woman takes the step, in deciding that they wish to become a stay at home mom, their title is stripped from them. They are now known as a "stay at home mom", it is such an endearing pet name that most people tend to give new mothers. I prefer the term "twenty four hour mother", since any stay at home mom faces the same, if not more quantities of work that a nine to five mother does. We don't clock in, nor do we see a paycheck every week. However, we are paid with what I deem as much more. We are given the bonuses of smiles on a daily basis, and have the ability to watch our children learn and grow. Although we might be paid, from our children's achievement. Most women still face the hard truths, they may feel as though they aren't appreciated for what they do around the home. Nearly every woman, may find that their spouse or partner who is the breadwinner of the family seems more distant. At least, that how it feels to some. It is an unfortunate fact, but until someone has truly stepped into the shoes of a stay at home mom, they will never understand all of the work that goes into it. You have now reached a milestone, in your stay at home motherly duties. Things are beginning to get repetitive, tiring and boring. Your children aren't the only ones who need some emotional stimulation. You are trapped inside, on a nearly constant basis around the constant coo's and ga ga's of baby talk. However, it is imperative that a stay at home mom get out a little. My suggestion, would be to join a local play group. Most can be found through your child's pediatrician, local newspaper, friends, or even craigslist.com. This enables not only your children to mingle with their peers, but will help you to obtain adult relationships with other mothers. I would highly suggest partaking in these meetings, on an average of at least once a week. It will help keep things new, and enable you to enter your routine with a clearer mind. Another couple of tips to spice things up, would be to get a family member to watch your children for an hour. Even if you spend the time, simply getting your grocery shopping done. It will allow you a little much needed "me" time. However, if that simply isn't a possibility. It is time to get out and about, if the weather permits it take the kids to the park. Depending on their ages, this may be a good time to relax and read a good book or magazine. Although it is a normal practice, to allow yourself to slip through the cracks as you care for your family. It is a vital part to keeping yourself, and your children happy to take care of you. Related information topics:The Clash baby clothes |
