Halloween costume ideas for kids 3

Now that we have some of the staple costumes out of the way, how about taking a trip around the world for our next crazy Halloween costume ideas for kids? It would seem that some of the best costumes come from a heart in history, that have children captivated. One of these costumes has got to be the pirate. Ever since the release of Pirates of the Carribean; dressing up as a pirate has becoming increasingly popular for children during Halloween.

Due to it’s popularity, many of the pre-made costumes at stores can be extremely expensive. However, there are means to make your own from home! All you will need to make this fantastic pirate costume is:

* an old or cheap pair of black pants for your child (preferably wide-legged sweats)
* a gold or white blouse
* gold costume jewelry
* a red scarf
* I pirate theme bandana
* a toy eyepatch
* a toy pirate hook
* a little bit of black face paint

First you will take your black pants, and cut the edges into a fringe with scissors. Have your child tuck in the blouse, and tie the scarf around the waist and add the bandana around his or her head. You will then clip on and strap on the gold jewelry, adding in the eye patch and pirates hook. Dab on the black face paint for a beard; or even a missing tooth. You may opt to use this under the pirates eyes if your child is a girl, and negate the beared. If you have any stuffed parrots around your house, use a wire or some pipe cleaner to fasten it to your child’s shoulder. Your little one is now set to trick-or-treat (or is that to get his or her bounty?)

* Now that we have taken a trip to the high seas, where would we be without the Egyptians? So many children are in awe of king tut’s look. For this reason you might opt to create a special costume just for them. You can make this costume fairly simply by using

* a headband
* some bobby pins and hair clips
* streamers or toilet paper
* white outfit (shoes, shirt, pants, and socks)
* tape or glue
* scissors
* a hole punch
* some string
* markers
* some card stock of different colors
* a printed king-tut mask complete with mask, headpiece, and beard.

First you will take your printed paper, and paste them onto the cardstock. You will then have your child color in the mask and headpiece. You will then cut out the mask pieces (make sure to punch out some sight and breathing holes for your child) and use a hole punch to fasten string on the sides of the mask. Dress your child in their clothes, and mask; then wrap them up like a mummy with the toilet paper or streamers! See, simple as can be! This costume also doubles as a family time craft, that will keep your family happy as can be.
