Holiday ideas for toddlers and kids

As you might already know, the difficulty of finding the perfect present for your child; seems to grow along with them. Below I have compiled a small list, and some tips and tricks to live by; when you are searching for that perfect holiday gift for a toddler or child. In conjunction with this list, you should remember to refer to any friends or relatives that you might have available, for their own suggestions as well. You may even find that some of the child’s relatives may wish to add some funds to the pot, for some of the more elaborate gifts.

Gifts for your child’s room:

1. Try an advent calendar; that matches the theme of your child’s room
2. Christmas or holiday wall hangings that your child can use to decorate his or her room.
3. New sheet set that will still coincide with the existing theme
4. Framed posters or wall art.

Play time fun; gifts that offer hours of entertainment:

1. Push and play lawn mower or vacuum cleaner; which will help your little one emulate the most important adults in his or her life.
2. Play telephone (or cell phone)
3. Trucks or trains (this isn’t gender specific! You can get them for your girls too)
4. Classic holiday videos, or videos with their favorite characters from tv.
5. Plastic play sets such as a farm, airport, garage, doll houses, castles and many more to choose from!
6. Pop-up toys, such as a jack in the box or “hammer” and “nails” sets
7. Plastic or wooden building bricks (this will help to stimulate their imagination, and help dexterity)
8. Picture books, or books that you can read to them before bed (No child’s fun is complete without their own personal library!)
9. You may even opt to get a yearly subscription to toddler related magazines.

Memory kept within mementos:

1. You may choose to purchase a personalized ornament for your child; with every year’s date
2. A custom Christmas stocking with your child’s name
3. Christmas cup and dishes that have been personalized with the child’s name.
4. Christmas outfit from the first year and up.
5. A year to year scrapbook of holidays.

Some of your big-purchase items:

1. Purchasing a savings bond for your child, to help to keep them set for life.
2. Their first tricycle, or bike.
3. A play kitchen and the plastic foods.
4. A pre-made puppet theater.
5. A dress up trunk with dress-up clothing.
