Nursery lighting

You have spent months getting your child’s nursery ready for his or her arrival. You have the crib, sheets, comforter, diaper rack, and even a hamper. However, you still need a couple more things to tie the theme and room together. When it comes to creating atmosphere, lighting is of course one of the key ingredients. Not only does this ring true in any adults bedrooms, but in a child’s bedroom as well.

The light is the central hub of life in a room, offering not only the means of fashion; but the ability to see and keep an eye on your little one. Luckily, many manufacturers and designers have made a plethora of styles of lamps and lighting for your infant’s room. From your traditional night lights, all the way to designer lamps that have been molded into animals and other fun shapes! It’s not just about being able to see anymore, its about tying together your child’s nursery theme.

Finding nursery lighting is fairly simple to do, however if you are looking for something slightly outside the “norm” you will need to take your search outside the box. While most retailers offer your stereotypical nursery lighting with pastels, baby animals, and all things cute; if you have chosen a them with a slight edge to it these might not work for you. However, a few infant specialty shops both online and off, have begun to offer lighting with a bit more edge for your child. From colored bulbs, all the way to band-logo themed nursery lights. The sky is truly the limit when finding the perfect nursery match.

With so many lamps and lights to choose from, how do you know what is the best for you? While table-top lamps and night lights are still standard in most homes, you might opt for a wall-mounted sconce. They even have torch wall-lamps, that will help to bring your fantasy princess or knight theme together in a hurry! As with any lighting purchase, you will need to make sure that the wattage on the lamp works for you and your family. Getting something too bright, might indeed make it harder for your child to sleep. While finding a lamp that has a hard-to-find bulb, will frustrate you in the long-haul. So keep it simple, dim, and beautiful for a nursery!
