Planning baby's first birthday party 2

Creating that perfect birthday party for your one year old doesn’t have to be a headache! Quite the contrary. If you follow the steps in this easy-to-follow two part article on preparing for your child’s first birthday; you will be ready before you know it. Remember, that it is important for you, the parent to enjoy your child’s birthday party as well!

5. Decide whether or not you will be serving food for your guests. Often times it is easier to just serve cake; however a light brunch or lunch is always appreciated. Offer something such as pizza, or small finger sandwiches that will likely please all of the children invited to your child’s birthday party. If you decide to serve food you should let your guests know what you are serving, or not. Double check with the parents of the children about food allergies, as you don’t want an emergency room visit to ruin your child’s first birthday party!

6. Make up invitations at least one week prior to your child’s birthday, and no more than three weeks prior! Too early will mean the likelihood of your guest forgetting is greater, and too little time between will mean someone has time to make other plans. Get all of the addresses and mail them out, or hand them out to save on postage!

7. Fun games and toys! Offering little trinkets for the children to play with is all you really need to do. Give them some crayons and washable markers; and have a birthday-card making contest! Anything goes, just make sure that it is age-appropriate!

8. If your child has specific needs for his or her birthday IE: clothes or another necessity. Don’t be afraid to tell your guests! Chances are they will be more than happy to supply your one-year-old with things he or she needs, rather than something that would get little use.

9. Choose a healthy first time birthday cake! While it is tradition to give fattening chocolate or vanilla cakes for a child’s birthday. Try to keep it simple with a carrot cake or something less-unhealthy than the standard!

10. Lastly make sure your home is baby-proof. You don’t need or want anyone to take a nasty spill on your little one’s big day! Keep those stair-wells blocked, and light sockets covered!
