Retro fashions can date anywhere from the nineteen fifties, sixties, or seventies depending on what you are wanting to accomplish. Generally speaking, most parents lean toward having their child sport the ‘retro’ band logos along with a faded jean and accessories. However, you are not limited to just this pairing of tee with jeans; in fact you are only limited by your creativity, when you are piecing together an outfit for your child. One of the most popular or “trendy” means to express a retro fashion for an alternative lifestyle, is by portraying the rockibilly styles of the fifties. Most of the adult fashions can be easily translated into a child’s wardrobe, such as the hip pokadotted sun dresses that are becoming increasingly popular over the last couple of years. However for the little boy in your life, you may wish to have them sport a throwback leather jacket, a band tee, and a dark wash jean; all topped off with sassy accessories like a fedora hat made for the little ones and some dark over sized shades. The most important part to any outfit, is the accessories. Some of the many retro throwback accessories lend themselves well to a child’s fashion. This is so only due to their inherent bright colorations, as well as the fun textures that are offered. Things such as hip hats, head bands, leg warmers, over sized jewelry such as bracelets or necklaces; are all wonderful ways to throw an extra pop of interest in your child’s fashion statement. Often times, I have found that it is much easier for a young child to choose their own outfit from the retro arena, for the simple fact that bold colors are often times the best way to go. Lastly, remember to enjoy your child’s funky fashion statement, and to not get too strict on the way they look; this enables them to become the trend setters of the future and find their own self.
