Studies On Baby MassageUpon the completion of reading these articles, you should be able to outline the guidelines for infant massage, and should be able to demonstrate infant massage techniques for their infant’s arms, legs, feet, stomach, back, head, and as well as their face. You should also be able to freely explain the general guidelines for an infant movement program and demonstrate the eight infant movements to be preformed by yourself and your child. We will also cover some suggestions of playful and interactive activities for yourself and your child, during exercise as well as massage. After the completion you should also be able to instruct other mothers in how to preform eight exercises that will be preformed with parent and child as well. This is a wonderful and rewarding bonding opportunity for any parent and their child. Remember that these exercises can be done at home, or you can participate in a class that is held locally to you as well. You can expect any classes that you participate in to be anywhere from fifteen to thirty minutes or in segments of both. In these classes you are likely to participate not only in exercise, but massage as well; as they help to provide you with the tools that you may need to complete these steps in bonding, as well as the health of yourself and your child. In this article we will focus on the mechanics of baby massage,
and how to do it safely. Infant massage is a great way to acquaint
the parents with the importance and benefit of touch and relaxation
with their infants. A parent can preform massage on their baby any
time after birth, and is a wonderful way for a parent to bond with
their child. It has been known to help infants handle the increased
stimulation, that they experience after leaving the womb; and can
help teach them to relax when they are experiencing stress. There
was a study conducted by the University of Miami Medical Center;
which had demonstrated that a premature infant who was massaged
for fifteen minutes up to three times a day, over ten consecutive
days averaged forty seven percent greater weight gain per day, over
infants who were not massaged. These infants who received the massage
were also increasingly active and alert; as well as displaying more
neurological development than other pre mature infants. On average
the hospital stay for an infant who was massaged was approximately
six fays shorter than that of the control group. These results that
were given reflected a similar studies results from nineteen seventy
seven, which was headed by a Dr Ruth Rice; on premature babies upon
discharge from their hospital.
