Surviving Holiday Travel With a NewbornIt would seem that we all look forward to our holiday travel. However, once you have become a new parent; you may have neglected to see the possible hardships of travel with a new born. Regardless of some of the nightmares that you have heard from your friends, there are several different ways for you to travel relatively stress-free with your little one. Remember that you should always plan your trip well in advance, visualizing how it should unfold; and try to anticipate what your infant may or may not need during that time of year (as well as the sizes that he or she may be in). You may also wish to speak with the airline if flying, so that you understand what you will need to purchase for safe travel. Next, you will want to create a list for packing. Listing everything that you will need; starting with the most obvious, all the way to the items that you might not think about during last-minute packing. This of course will enable you to pack (and check off the items as they are packed), without leaving something important behind IE: infant formula, diapers, wipes. You should always.. ALWAYS be prepared for the unexpected. You should pack a few extra diapers and wipes than you may anticipate using, and bring a few couple hundred dollars more than you would consider spending. This will help to aid you if there is any problems with weather, or any other holiday-spoiling possibilities. Lastly, you will need to converse with your child’s pediatrician. While it is normally alright to travel with an infant; some doctors may advise you against any long-haul travel with an infant under the age of three months. This is especially true while you are flying to your destination. Remember, while the initial take off and landing is uncomfortable to you; it may be detrimental to your child’s health, if he or she isn’t of the proper age to fly. For this reason, if you are taking a trip with a very young child. You may wish to use your vehicle; the key to doing this is to take frequent stops. While your child is able to sleep in the car, it isn’t as comfortable or as safe as sleeping on a mattress. Remember, the key to any vacation is to have some fun! That is what they are about right? While most of them may tend to go a little sour at some point, try to keep a level-head about any situation that may arise.
