Unique one pieces and t-shirts for infantsFind a unique or original one piece or t-shirt for your child, shouldn’t be a difficult task. Whether you choose to create your own one pieces and tee’s or to make a simple purchase; there are many different items out there for you to choose from. While there are plenty of retailers that offer a variety of clothing for children, most of the main stream items look eerily similar to one another. For this reason, I would suggest taking your shopping to a specialty shop, or online at select retailers that cater to a more alternative parent.
Some of my personal favorite one pieces and infant t-shirts are extremely unique, allowing for a bit of originality in your child’s wardrobe. Finding pieces that are so rare that they seem one of a kind, will have both yourself and your child standing out in the crowd. There are many places that offer tattoo inspired one pieces and t-shirts which are always a welcome find, however some can be rather played out. For this reason I would suggest trying to find one with some extraordinary detailing, that will allow the print to set your child apart from the rest. While you aren’t limited by unique prints; many one pieces can be seen sporting original phrases or construction. Some of the cutest that I have seen are our geek-inspired one pieces and t-shirts such as QT-squared or even some of the more urban inspired one pieces such as “Trendy tadpole ‘oh snap’” which shows an adorable little tadpole and frog swimming about. However if you are looking for something with a little more edge to it, it is quite common to find unique punk or gothic one pieces; as these genre’s haven’t been used much in an infant or toddler’s wardrobe. This of course lends itself well to any parent who is wanting their child to make a statement, without it being repeated by his or her daycare friends. If you are still unable to find anything that suits your fancy, or just simply screams out “me”; then you may wish to use a little of your own creativity. One suggestion I would make is to purchase a solid colored one piece whether it be white, black, blue, pink, crimson, or royal blue along with a set of fabric paint markers. Remember when selecting the paint markers to obtain a higher quality, as the cheaper brands will become translucent on a darker base color. Now that you have purchased everything that is needed, you may wish to obtain a small portion of cardboard to stop the paint from seeping through to the other side; and creating a mess. What you will do, is slide the cardboard inside of the one piece or t-shirt (make sure the cardboard is small enough to slide in without snagging the seams, and large enough to cover your work area). You will then use a little creativity either using pre-purchased stencil’s or your own imagination to paint on a design or catch phrase. When you are washing these home creations, make sure that you turn them inside-out; as this will prevent the design from wearing away too soon. It has been my experience that these custom made one pieces and t-shirts can last throughout your child’s use; and can possibly withstand a hand-me-down later. If painting simply isn’t your forte, you may also wish to consider using iron on or sew on patches. These patches will enable you to create a unique look without so much effort.
