Winter Clothes and Boots for Babies

While summer wanes down, the days become shorter; and the crisp air of the fall is soon to follow. However, while fall seems to last but a short while much like it’s cousin spring; winter will begin to take hold on our cities. It is an inevitable change, that will come regardless of when you bring your infant into the world. For this reason, you will need to be prepared for all weather conditions; that fall around your due date. While your child isn’t going to be skampering around in the snow at this tender age, to feel the crunch of snow against his or her boots; the chill in the air will still reach your little one despite those thick fleece blankets.

For this reason, you would be wise to consider arming your child’s wardrobe with weather-fighting clothing to keep him or her warm throughout the day. While you may already know of footed blanket sleepers, there is still more that can be done to ensure your child’s comfort. Purchasing a snow suit for your infant, while tending to be of a bulkier build; can help to keep your infant warm if you decide to take a long walk through the glittering streets during your family time. Often times sporting a snug-fitting hood, to keep your child’s cheeks from chilling. However, if you aren’t looking to go out on the town; most pediatricians warn against using bulky snow suits for infants, while they are strapped into car-seats. For situations like these, a warm fleece hat, gloves, and socks can be paired with your blanket-sleeper and a fleece blanket to keep your child nice and toasty warm.

Of course along with your standard staples of clothing, rather than over-clothing your child in many layers upon their feet; you should opt to find a quality pair of winter boots for your infant. Remember, finding quality in infant shoes can be difficult; as you aren’t likely to see any wear-and-tear on them when they aren’t used. Much like any other shoe, it is important to get your child’s foot sized both in length, and in width; catering to the larger of the two feet in the sizing of your child’s shoes. Despite being a shoe, boots do tend to fit slightly more narrow to the foot; so if you have a child ( like mine) who has wide feet, you will need to find a specialty shop that caters to those with slightly larger feet.
