The working mother's guideAlthough it is difficult for nearly everyone, to get up and go to work every morning. It is particularly so for a working mother, especially if she is single. Not only does it pay a toll on your financial state, due to the rising costs of daycare and gasoline. But it tends to effect the emotional state of the mother as well. Generally speaking, the average working individual can expect to spend an average of thirty five, to forty hours a week at their workplace. As most parents soon find out, the average work hours aren't conducive to a family life. Often times causing children to spend anywhere from six to nine hours, in the care of a family member or a daycare center. This, as you can expect not only is stressful for the child but the mother as well. As mothers we are not only expected to provide for our families, but nurture our children and mold them into proper citizens. The work list for a mother, does however continue on past these items. We lack the time in the day to get our housework done, however we still manage to have a spotless home. As you can imagine this takes an un-necessary toll on the mother's well being and mental strength. But, we continue on to keep our families happy. It is an unfortunate fact, that with the economy this day and age, even if a father had a well paying job. It is nearly impossible for a family of four, to have only one sole breadwinner. This of course is one of the top reasons why mothers are forced back into the workplace, even before their FMLA expires at work. I was one of the lucky few, who had saved strategic throughout my pregnancy. This allowed me time, past the FMLA at a job I hated to spend with my daughter. I feel fortunate in the fact, that I was able to spend nearly a year and a half out of the work place. However, this isn't always the case for most mothers. I have found, that an alarming amount of mothers haven't had the chance to bond with their new additions. They are forced back into the every day grind of working for a company, that they hate. Due to the fact, that they have not saved for this time in their life. Most companies are required by law to offer a form of FMLA (family medical leave act), for employees who have been employed at least one year. However, they are not required to give their employees paid FMLA. This, amung other situations such as a rising deficits, and a bottomed out economy help to create more stress for our countries mothers, and families. The only suggestion I may have, that if you are planning on having a child. It is imperative that you save, every dollar counts during this time. A dollar a week, depending on every family's situation will help. I myself, didn't have this "planning" time as we had an un-planned pregnancy. However, I was in a situation that I could save on average a hundred dollars from every check for the time when I would have my daughter. Related information topics:The Clash baby clothes |
