Your organic baby

Would you allow your child to intake chemicals, or pesticides in their food? Of course not! As a parent, we regulate what our children eat or drink, however few stop to think about the clothes their child is wearing. Most children will chew, and gnaw on anything from their toys, to their clothing, to their favorite blanket that has been created out of materials that have been sprayed continuously throughout the growing, and farming process with pesticides, and other chemicals.

The shocking reality of it all is, is that though it is fairly un-heard of there are consequences, for using mass-produced fabrics. According to the World Health Organization over twenty thousand deaths occur, in developing countries every year due to pesticide pollution, many of these spawn directly from the production of cotton. Not only is it reaping havoc on the population that cultivates the product, but it is suggested that over three million people suffer through the after-math , from damage done to soil fertility and wildlife thinning, all the way to chronic disease to the farmers and families.

Generally speaking, Non-organic cotton products are then colored with the non-too friendly toxic dyes. IE: Dioxin ( a bi-product of bleach) which is used to whiten clothing, Formaldehyde is also used to make the clothing to appear more presentable. Take the time to think about these things before putting these clothes on the , five times thinner skin of your child. Which allows for easier absorption than an adult.

While we have focused on the problems with generic, mass-produced fabrics such as cotton. We will now shed some light on the benefits of organic clothing, and bedding for your children. Firstly, the texture of organic material tends to be far softer, and stronger since the fibers are left in-tact and not broken down during a chemical process. Organic cotton, also tends to smell nicer as the use of formaldehyde is not used during the finishing of the product, and less likely to trigger any allergies.

So, I implore you to please take into consideration, not only what goes inside of the tummy on your baby. But what also clothes, snuggles, and even affords enjoyment such as clothing, blankets, and organic toys. Not only will it provide a healthier environment, but ease your mind in knowing that you are doing the best for your child, and saving yourself a few dollars in the process.
